"A Last Waltz" by Rea Redifer
Adapted for performance by Gary Smith
Friday July 20th, 2007 Anson B. Nixon Park, Kennett Square, PA. Tickets ($8.00) only available at the door.

Rea Redifer's wonderful vignette on the life of of Christian Carmack Sanderson is the fourth in our bi-annual Summer Festivals of one-act plays called "Plays in Plain Clothes". The evening will begin at 7.00pm with a picnic catered by the Kennett Square Inn who will offer a reasonably priced selection of delectable picnic meals. Bring a blanket or beach chairs. The play proper will begin at 8.15pm and will last about 35 minutes.

"There was always something wistful and cantankerous about old Chris; a left over quality from another time. He was, at seventy, a childish gadfly, steeped in the innocent convictions of the turn of the century when romantic notions of piety, patriotism and fidelity prevailed... Chris and Mrs Young came to realize that they were both in the same business...the junk business...lost to dreams of their youth. The Drifter is the master of ceremonies, with a thorn of awareness in his heart that this is what dreams come to." Rea Redifer.

Cast: Chris Sanderson, Clarke Green; Mrs Young, Lisa Teixeira; Mrs Sanderson, Lorraine Anderson; the Drifter, James E. Smith, the Singer, Guenevere Calabrese.

Clarke Green has been with KATS from its inception: notable contributions include "Jim Lad" in "Mother Goose", and "Paul Bunyan", which he wrote and directed. Lisa Teixeira is a member of the KATS Board: notable contributions include "Nomia" in "Paul Bunyan and "Sarah" in "Cinderella". Lorraine Anderson garnered critical acclaim for her performance in Rea Redifer's "Prairie". James E. Smith has understudied for KATS on several occasions: currently his band, Old Springs Pike, is enjoying considerable success in New York. Genevere Calabrese has also understudied for KATS and will soon be directing one of the KATS pantomimes at Upland Country Day School.
